MAMA DC is a band that overwhelms you.
The MAMA DC show takes you along and will not let go. A lead singer who sings with passion and dances enchantingly, catching choir of the ladies backing vocals, fat sounds and samples of the keys, deep tight bass, funky rhythm guitar and tearing solo's, hot drums and cool percussion.
MAMA DC is a contemporary band that mixes Funk Pop Rock World and Soul to an unforgettable musical journey and a show you can dance to. With catching funky items like “As the sun goes down”, African funky “Supernatural” till the intimate “In the midst” & “Who are you”.
MAMA DC brings a mix of styles with funk running through it like a thread. The recently released CD Supernatural which is played in the show, will be filled up with sunny samba, groovy funk and tight rock songs.
Leoni Santander (singer) and Jeroen van Hoof (bass) who were the musical co-leaders of the famous world music group Bayuba Cante, are in this formation assisted by experienced musicians who left their tracks in the Dutch musical scene. Samir Bashir (guitar), Hajo Sanders (keys), Wobbe Visser (drums), Emilie Cleuver (percussion), Natalie Ilario (singer).
MAMA DC finished first in the qualifying round of the Emerganza Festival 2012. the semi final in P60 Amstelveen follows.
The MAMA DC songs Bapu & Lelo have been used in the feature film “War Boys”, a United States Production.
MAMA DC created a sound of their own. Temporary music, timeless and made to DANCE.
